Oliver Berger advises boards of directors, business owners and chief executives on one of the most critical decisions any organisation faces: the selection of its leadership. His advisory approach combines Executive Search, Leadership Analytics and Corporate Governance to support informed succession and leadership decisions with a long-term perspective.

His work focuses on advising boards and nomination committees on CEO succession, board of directors and executive committee composition and the long-term development of leadership teams.

As an Equity Partner at Witena, Oliver leads national and international executive search mandates across the Financial Services, Real Estate & Hospitality, Healthcare and Public Sector industries, as well as for publicly listed companies. His clients include listed corporations, family-owned businesses, private equity investors and public institutions.

Oliver studied Law at the University of Basel and completed postgraduate studies in Coaching and Organisational Consulting at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW). Before joining Witena, he worked for several internationally recognised executive search firms, most recently Korn Ferry. Earlier in his career, he played a key role in building a pan-European executive search boutique.

He is the publisher of the Witena CEO & Board Report, one of Switzerland’s most comprehensive analyses of CEO, Executive Committee and Board appointments and succession in publicly listed companies. The insights derived from this research directly inform his advisory work, supporting boards in evaluating leadership profiles, succession strategies and governance matters.

In addition, Oliver regularly lectures at leading universities, including ETH Zurich and the University of Basel. Through his lecture series, “How to Become a CEO,” he provides students and emerging leaders with practical insights into executive careers, leadership and the evolving demands of modern corporate governance.
